Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Primary educators

Arco Iris Learning offers two in-person CPD training sessions from September 2023.


Each training includes the background information to the chosen series and a guided imaginative experience with contemplative explorations.

Suitable for Anglican CE and Catholic Primary Schools.

Suitable for all Primary Schools and links with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and Harmony Principles.


CPD duration:

- 90 minute twilight: includes one guided imaginative experience session and background information.


- Half day : includes two guided imaginative experience sessions and background information.


- Full day: includes three guided imaginative experience sessions and background information.

Encounters with God

Nurturing children’s spirituality through imaginative prayer and contemplative explorations.


How is the CPD structured?


- Available in-person for: a 90 minute

   twilight, half or whole day training session.


- The training session provides information on   

   how imaginative prayer experiences for children can:


  • nurture children's spirituality. 
  • provide an opportunity to encounter God
  • nurture spiritual development and faith expansion.


- Colleagues have the opportunity to experience

   a guided imaginative prayer session and

   are invited to a contemplative exploration.


- Includes an introduction to 'sacred prayer pathways'.


- All creative resources are provided.

Encounters with God : Further Information


Research for the 'Encounters with God' series was originally written in 2017 by Maria Wojciechowska-Caneda, and subsequently adapted in 2023.


It was initially written for a module on the MA Christian Spirituality programme at Sarum College, Salisbury.


It discusses the Ignatian tradition of imaginative prayer and how it may provide a pathway for primary aged children to have an 'encounter with God'.

Nurturing children’s wellbeing through imaginative experiences and contemplative explorations.


How is the CPD structured?


- Available in-person for: a 90 minute twilight, half or 

  whole day training session.


- The training session provides information on   

   how imaginative experiences for children can:


  • boost productivity and academic achievements.
  • support creativity and creative thinking.
  • help to create new neural networks, which can then impact innovation and inspiration.

  • support personal relationships.


- Colleagues have the opportunity to experience

   a guided imaginative session and are invited to a

  contemplative exploration.


- Includes an introduction to 'wellbeing pathways'.


- All creative resources are provided.
